1930s antique Franta Anýž copper pendant

Era: 1930s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Manufactured by famed Czech metalworker Franta Anýž, this one-off 1930s pendant was born at a time of innovation and modernity in former Czechoslovakia. Art Deco by design, a dramatic metal shade features a hand-brushed copper plating. Opaline glass provides soft downlighting with an added element of uplighting when illuminated. Sensitively restored to preserve all original components, this is a true collector’s piece. Perfect for stirring up conversation over dining room tables and lobbies. A silver version is also available.

Equire about this product

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Over the years, we’ve rescued and restored thousands of lights that would otherwise may have ended up in landfill - examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time. But we don’t only piece together the light’s components. We take the time to investigate its history, studying old catalogues for clues and assembling the whole story.
