Once illuminating a textile mill in former Czechoslovakia, these vintage 1950s pendants witnessed the first decade of communist rule in the Eastern Bloc. An opaline glass shade provides a soft and even glow when illuminated, contrasting against a polished aluminium gallery. Cast manufacturer’s markings nod to the nationalised factories in the area and a rich history and heritage. Perfect for making a statement in restaurants and bars or at home.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Most modern bulbs, particularly environmentally friendly LED bulbs, are smaller than those the lights were originally designed to take. We redesign and adjust the positioning of the new lamp holder to give you a light that illuminates your space, perfectly.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable , please just ask.
