Salvaged Polish pendant lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Poland

Manufactured in 1950s Poland these industrial pendants were eventually salvaged from a factory in Gdansk. The original manufacturer's marks feature in testament to their heritage. With a polished aluminium enclosure and a dimpled glass shade, their simple yet refined style makes them perfect for adding a statement above dining tables or in entranceways.

Many of the products we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc were produced in Poland. As with the majority of lights designed and manufactured under Communist rule - during the period from the end of the Second World War to the fall of the Berlin wall - they are defined by a clean industrial aesthetic, with the same design often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Restoration

Wherever possible we retain the original finish of a light in testament to its history and heritage. However, sometimes leaving a surface as we find it just isn’t possible. Some lights made from non-ferrous metals such as aluminium arrive so severely degraded that we need to remove their outer layers to allow any further surface treatment to be applied.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension wire, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable please just ask.
