Hungarian piggery lights (V1)

Era: 1950s Origin: Hungary

A large run of industrial pendants salvaged from a Hungarian piggery. The vitreous enamelled steel shade shows slight signs of wear while the original finned aluminium gallery has been refurbished and polished. Ideal suspended singularly or in rows above a kitchen island or worktop.

Origin: Hungary

We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Lit by skinflint

You might have spotted these lights in the series A Gentleman in Moscow, where Count Alexander Rostov is forced to live out his days at the Hotel Metropol. Dotted around the servants’ quarters of the hotel, the industrial shades are the perfect addition to contrast against the luxury of the hotel. Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, please just ask.
