Vintage German railway light salvaged from defunct signalling equipment outside of Berlin, Germany. Polished aluminium enclosure with glass lenses and new suspension brackets facilitating rotational adjustment.
German designs are famed for their clean lined and well engineered approach. The Bauhaus School played a major role in combining design with engineering during the late 1920s and early 1930s. A number of lights we salvage were influenced by Bauhaus School design. From the mid to late 20th century, Communist East Germany produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications, often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.
