Decorative opaline Czech pendants (V1)

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Once illuminating the corridors of a school in former Czechoslovakia, these vintage 1950s pendants witnessed the rise and fall of communism in the Eastern Bloc. An opaline shade with a decorative underside creates a soft and ambient glow when illuminated, contrasting against an original Bakelite gallery. Perfect for adding impact to hotel lounges and lobbies, or in rows above bars. Part of The Retreat Collection in collaboration with Dodds & Shute.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.
