1970s Czech conical pendants

Era: 1970s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Beginning life in former Czechoslovakia, these 1970s conical pendants were salvaged from a derelict state-run glassworks factory, and left abandoned after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Paired with an original Bakelite gallery, the opaline glass shade casts a soft, even glow when illuminated, with an open bottom for added downlighting. Their low profile makes them perfect over kitchen work surfaces.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Most modern bulbs, particularly environmentally friendly LED bulbs, are smaller than those the lights were originally designed to take. We redesign and adjust the positioning of the new lamp holder to give you a light that illuminates your space, perfectly.
