1960s retro lantern pendant lights

These striking fixed-rod pendants began life illuminating hotels in former Czechoslovakia. Manufactured in the 1960s, all original components remain preserved, including an original convex glass lens and a brushed stainless steel enclosure, which features a perforated design to the main housing. Creating a lantern effect when lit, these feature fixtures are ready to make a statement in hotels, receptions, boutiques and other commercial projects.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. We have three guiding principles: to salvage the best lighting from the 1920s to the 1970s; to restore every piece sensitively - without compromising its character; and to restore each fixture to the highest modern standards.
