Industrial kitchen island lighting, Glasgow
Architecture and interior design practice Nest undertook the renovation of this house in Glasgow transforming it into a stunning home with bundles of character.
The new light-filled contemporary kitchen is a bespoke creation. With a quirky urban and industrial feel, it also remains comfortable and practical. Nest’s clever design provides lots of usable cooking space and storage perfect for entertaining, with our salvaged 1930s German factory lights making a statement above the kitchen island. “The vintage lights add charm to the room along with the client’s old books and records,” says Nest co-founder and interior designer Debbie Happell.
The project involved structural alterations to create a new open-plan kitchen and dining area leading to a small terrace - the feature blue paneling helping to create a visual flow throughout the house. The striking colour scheme, bespoke elements and “older vintage items balance the brand new modern kitchen and add some character to the room,” says Debbie, whilst helping to keep the scheme looking completely exclusive.
