Vintage 1930s dentist's operating wall light

Era: 1930s Origin: U.S.A

A rare 1930s dentist's operating light originally made by 'Wilmot Castle Company' in New York. A real collector piece, this impressive light has been sensitively restored by hand retaining all of its original features and paint finishes which have been waxed and sealed. With working lateral rotation this is ideal as a task light.

Origin: U.S.A

Unlike the communist Eastern Bloc countries, lighting design in mid-century U.S.A. benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time designing and producing similar products for the same market, often with only slight differences in their style. Due to the location we rarely have the opportunity to reclaim and restore light fixtures from the U.S.A., but some of our perennial favourites are the old signal lights that adorned the highways of the midwest. We reconfigure and restore these timeless classics into functional pendant lights, for both residential and commercial use.

Restoration

The original steel construction and black paint finish with manufacturer’s plaques and markings really emphasis the heritage of this statement piece. The lamp enclosure comprises a large reflector and original glass screen with full adjustment and rotation by hand. This medical wall light has 180 degree lateral rotation at the wall plate with additional articulation at the arm and head joints.

Spot on

I’ve now purchased five different products over two home refurbishments. Alongside the product, the service, speed and packaging it is spot on. It's only skinflint that make me wish I had another project to work on and a larger property to kit out.
