XL 1950s British industrial lightingEra: 1950s Origin: UK
A large run of industrial LED factory lights by AEI Lamp & Lighting Ltd salvaged from an industrial complex in the Midlands, UK.
Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. Many of the products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England between Bristol and Bradford. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.View all lights from UK
These substantial pendants have been refurbished and reassembled by hand. To begin with the degraded surface has been removed, making the path clear for us to bring it back to life. The large aluminium enclosures have been polished while the upper steel support bar has been powder coated. The the original glass housing has also been retained. Suspended through a minimal stainless steel suspension system, which allows for millimetric adjustment.
About the LED lamp
This product is fitted with the latest in linear LED technology. The LED bulb, with an average life of 50,000 hours, is located within an etched diffusion sleeve to prevent any glare and creates an even distribution of warm light (2700K or 3000k). Supplied with either a switched or dimmable remote module (Leading/Trailing edge, Dali/DMX or 1-10v). Please contact the studio for more information.
Whats the difference in brightness between a LED bulb, a fluorescent bulb and a traditional 60w filament bulb?
In simple terms, bulb brightness is measured in lumens. Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a bulb or light source. As a comparison, an LED bulb is 2475lm, a fluorescent bulb of the same length is 2460lm and a traditional 60w filament bulb is 800lm.
Supplied rewired and tested with a switched or dimmable LED lamp and 2mtrs of elephant grey braided cable, 2mtrs wire suspension and ceiling mounting kit.

Associated Electrical Industries (AEI) was established in 1928, a result of a merger between two well known rival electrical companies - Metropolitan-Vickers and British Thomson-Houston. Although they produced a selection of lights alongside other electrical devices, it wasn’t until 1956 that AEI Lamps and Lighting Co. was formed. By 1961 their lighting production had become so successful it became a company in its own right, retaining the brand name AEI until the company was taken over in 1964 to form part of British Lighting Industries.View all AEI Lights

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.

Couldn't justify spending at the higher end of Skinflint's product range as out of my budget but the quality of what I bought being around a third of the cost of their top end items is exceptional. Recommended
