Unlike the communist Eastern Bloc countries, lighting design in mid-century U.S.A. benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time designing and producing similar products for the same market, often with only slight differences in their style. Due to the location we rarely have the opportunity to reclaim and restore light fixtures from the U.S.A., but some of our perennial favourites are the old signal lights that adorned the highways of the midwest. We reconfigure and restore these timeless classics into functional pendant lights, for both residential and commercial use.
View all lights from U.S.AWhere possible we retain the original finish of a light - it is part of its history and emphasises its heritage. However, sometimes leaving a surface as we find it just isn’t possible. The aluminium enclosure has been refurbished by hand and polished on large rotating cotton wheels adding shine, grain and highlighting the casting details. Bringing out the light’s character through surface and patina. Fitted with three new etched glass screens, the pendant provides a nice diffusion of light when illuminated.
Supplied tested and rewired with 3no. bayonet (B22) lamp holders and 2metres of elephant grey braided power cable, and ceiling mounting system. This is two minimal stainless steel suspension wires with ceiling mounts that allow millimetric adjustment.

Marbalite of New York were founded in 1923. By the 1950s they had grown into one of the foremost traffic light manufacturers in the country, competing with other leading brands such as Eagle and Crouse Hinds. Marbalite provided most of the traffic lights for New York City from the 1950s through to the 1970s. They are still fairly common in the metropolitan area of NYC although their numbers are steadily dwindling as newer models replace them.

The quality of what I bought (being around a third of the cost of their top end items) is exceptional. Recommended.

I was very happy with the products I received. They arrived quickly and were packed brilliantly and professionally. There was no way they were going to be damaged in transit.

I am extremely happy with skinflint's products and customer service. Pansy was very approachable and understanding. She was also very quick to respond to any queries and always followed up any emails or telephone conversations.

The lights definitely bring a sense of authentic character and history to the space. It's the truth when I say I had the lights before I even had final house plans!
