Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of the former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. This ensures every light we reclaim lives on to tell its tale: from its original use, to how it came to be salvaged and restored. The next part of the story is up to you.

About the LED lamp

This product is fitted with the latest in linear LED technology. The LED lamp, with an average life of 50,000 hours, is located within an etched diffusion sleeve to prevent any glare and creates an even distribution of warm light (2700-3000K) Supplied as standard with a non dimmable switched lamp. Alternatively, a dimmable lamp with remote module (Leading/Trailing edge, Dali/DMX or 1-10v) can be supplied, please contact the studio for more information.

Whats the difference in brightness between a LED bulb, a fluorescent bulb and a traditional 60w filament bulb?

In simple terms, bulb brightness is measured in lumens. Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a bulb or light source. As a comparison, this LED bulb is 2475lm a fluorescent bulb of the same length is 2460lm and a traditional 60w filament bulb is 800lm.
