1950s Hungarian porcelain pendants

Era: 1950s Origin: Hungary

Salvaged 1950s porcelain pendant lights from Hungary, comprising the original enamel steel shade, clear glass well, and oxidised porcelain gallery. The specially treated steel and iron enclosures have been sealed by hand in our workshop, with an interesting array of rich surface patinas retained. The contrasting materials make these eye-catching statement pieces in a living space.

Hungary

Origin: Hungary

We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

Restoration

Before a light can be restored, any damaged outdated components will require repair or replacing. As part of this work we replace original imperial screws with their modern-day metric counterparts and rework their screw ports to take them. We replace the original electrics with brand new, fully certified EN60598 components - this gives you peace of mind, knowing your vintage light is as safe to use as any modern light.
