1950s British industrial lights by ThorluxEra: 1950s Origin: UK
Early linear LED pendants by 'Thorlux', salvaged from a factory in the industrial heartland of the North of England, UK.
Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. Many of the products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England between Bristol and Bradford. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.View all lights from UK
The lights have been refurbished by hand with a vitreous enamelled green shade, with lipped detailing, that shows slight wear and surface patina emphasising the age and industrial heritage of the lights. Complete with the original lacquered steel brackets, the vented sahde allows a degree of uplighting when the products are illuminated, making these real feature pendants.
About the LED lamp
This product is fitted with the latest in linear LED technology. The LED bulb, with integral driver, has an average life of 50,000 hours, and is located within an etched diffusion sleeve to prevent any glare and creates an even distribution of warm light (3000k).
Whats the difference in brightness between a LED bulb, a fluorescent bulb and a traditional 60w filament bulb?
In simple terms, bulb brightness is measured in lumens. Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a bulb or light source. As a comparison, an LED bulb is 2475lm, a fluorescent bulb of the same length is 2460lm and a traditional 60w filament bulb is 800lm.
Supplied rewired and tested with a switched LED lamp and 2mtrs of traditional old gold braided cable, 2mtrs chain suspension and ceiling mounting plates.
Non-standard delivery (POA). All dimensions and weights are approximate. IP20 for internal use only.
Thorlux was founded by Frederick William Thorpe in 1936 in Redditch, Worcestershire. The company produced vitreous enamelled shades for lighting factories, workshops, mills and farm buildings during the progressive industrialisation of the 1930s through to the 1950s. Thorlux is still in existence over 75 years later, manufacturing a comprehensive range of professional lighting and control systems for architectural and industrial applications. The classic enamel shades from the 1950s with the distinctive Thorlux branding are one of our firm favourites.View all Thorlux Lights

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.
