Airfield taxiway lights (V7)

1950s runway taxiway lights salvaged from RAF Scampton, the home of the Red Arrows. Restored and converted to feature wall lights, the lights comprise the original steel casing, cast branding marks "Type LT/6B", glass lenses, and unique mottled surface. Producing a sideways distribution of light when illuminated.

Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

At skinflint, the work we do is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each light that we salvage. Refurbished by our lighting experts, this light has been meticulously restored in order to retain its authentic industrial features, including preserving and sealing the surface finishes. Brought back to life, these lights are now ready for modern-day use in a range of interiors.
