Motorcycle factory pendants by Benjamin

Luminaire Reference: 15_2324

A run of British industrial fixtures by 'Benjamin', circa 1930, salvaged from the Douglas Motorcycle Factory in Bristol, UK.

The factory supplied motorcycles to the British Army during the First and Second World Wars, which were primarily used to facilitate military communications through army despatch riders. It is said the MOD built a bomb shelter and back up generator arrangement in the basement of the factory to facilitate 24hr production. In all Douglas motorcycles produced 70,000 machines for military use.

Vitreous white enameled vented reflectors permit a degree of up lighting, with a brushed and lacquered steel enclosure. Slight surface patina to the enamel emphasises the age and industrial heritage of the items.

Rewired, tested and supplied with 2mtrs of elephant grey braided cable and the latest in linear LED technology. The LED tube is located within an etched diffusion sleeve to prevent any glare and creates an even distribution of warm light (2700K) with an average bulb life of 50,000 hours.

Supplied with either a switched or dimmable remote module (Dali, 1-10v, DMX or Leading/Trailing edge.) Please contact the studio for more information.

Whats the difference in brightness between a LED bulb, a fluorescent bulb and a traditional 60w filament bulb?

Well in simple terms bulb brightness is measured in lumens. Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a bulb or light source.

As a comparison this LED bulb is 2475lm a fluorescent bulb of the same length is 2460lm and a traditional 60w filament bulb is 800lm.
