Airfield landing lights. Circa 1940

Stunning run of elegant prismatic industrial pendants by 'GEC' Originally utilised as airfield landing lights and salvaged from RAF Wethersfield, a WW2 airbase in Essex, UK. Circa 1940. Polished aluminium enclosure with concave prismatic glass lens complete with cast makers mark "GEC Made in England." 

Supplied with new screw (E27) lamp holders, 2mtrs of industrial steel suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate.

RAF Wethersfield: A brief history

Formerly known as RAF Wethersfield, the airfield opened in 1944. During World War II, it was used by the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. It was closed in 1946 and was reopened in 1951 as a result of the Cold War. Used until 1970 as a United States Air Force fighter base, it was held as a reserve airfield until 1993, when it came under control of the Ministry of Defence Police.
