Art Deco chandeliers at Globe Specs, Kyoto
Our collaboration with the Japanese optical brand Globe Specs continues, this time at their third store in Kyoto, Japan. Located in the iconic former Kyoto Central Telephone Office, the 1920s building has been redesigned by famed architect Kengo Kuma and is a fitting spot for three of our original 1920s Art Deco opaline chandeliers.
In each of Globe Specs’ stores, founder Tetsuya Okada brings together vintage furniture and artifacts sourced from his travels that reflect the culture and history unique to each place.
Expertly restored by our team, the one-off chandeliers seen here were salvaged in former Czechoslovakia and, with their authentic Art Deco metallic detailing and handblown opaline glass globes, add elegance to the otherwise industrial space.
