Hand-blown Art Deco pendants

Era: 1920s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

These Art Deco pendants started life in 1920s Prague, former Czechoslovakia, in a period of cultural post-war prosperity. Once illuminating a private residence, the hand-blown opaline glass is perfect for achieving warmth in any interior, with the angular design adding edge to a softer dispersion of light. Great for circulation areas in restaurants, bars and homes.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Vintage lights were made to last. Manufactured before the era of planned obsolescence, between the 1920s to the 1970s, each one brings its own authentic story, history, and as you might imagine, signs of age and patina. At skinflint these are the elements that we like to preserve - that’s why we sensitively restore each light to maintain the nuances that make them different, but always ensure they’re brought up to modern day electrical standards.

Product details

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, 2 mtrs of traditional silver braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable please just ask.

Love the lights, love your ethos. Absolutely what more companies need to be doing. I have my Retro Czech Ceiling Lights (V2) in my dining room and the spray of light they give off is gorgeous and unusual.
