1960s opaline glass wall lights from the Czech republic

28-06-2016

We recently restored these three designs of square, opaline glass light – salvaged from tenement blocks in the former Czechoslovakia – which show Eastern Bloc lighting can be decorative as well as functional.

Originally designed to complement opaline ceiling globes, the squares we salvaged direct from the Czech republic feature moulded detailing, a cross-hatched surface or a striking, curved wave profile. Each comes with its original, brushed aluminium mounting plate, carefully vapour-blasted to restore a pristine finish.

Unusually for lights of this kind, we have salvaged a substantial run of two of the designs – giving you the opportunity to create real impact with a group or relief feature.
