Reclaimed Eastern Bloc rectilinear bulkheads (S)

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Once illuminating the factories of the former Eastern Bloc, these 1950s rectilinear bulkheads helped the communist powers work towards the industrialisation of the Soviet Union within former Czechoslovakia. Rectilinear and industrial by design, each wall light retains an original prismatic glass lens with a contrasting linished and lacquered steel enclosure. Also available in a larger size, now ready for their next chapter in bars and restaurants, homes or hotels.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Every one of our lights goes through a variety of processes to bring it from its worn and often dilapidated salvaged state, to a stage where it is ready for modern day use at home or in commercial interiors. From disassembling, stripping down and rewiring, to finishing and sealing the light preventing further degradation to the surface. You can rest assured you’re getting an original and unique vintage light that is ready for the next chapter of its life.
