Oxidised Eastern Bloc factory lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Once illuminating factory floors across the Eastern Bloc, these 1950s wall lights witnessed the highs and lows of state-run industry during the Cold War years. A clear prismatic glass lens provides a bright, evenly dispersed glow, complimented by the deep russet tones of an oxidised steel enclosure. Perfect for illuminating bars and restaurants.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoring vintage lights in the skinflint workshop

Restoration

skinflint's range of oxide lights have specially treated steel or iron enclosures that have been purposely and individually oxidised in our workshops. Not only does this prevent further degradation to the light, but it creates a rich array of surface colours and patinas that complement a range of interiors.
