Caged WWII bunker lights by G.E.C

Era: 1940s Origin: UK

These 1940s imposing wall lights by G.E.C once illuminated WWII munitions bunkers in R.A.F airfields in Lincolnshire, UK. Industrial by design and built to withstand extreme environments, each enclosure features a prismatic glass lens protected by a caged exterior. An oxidised treatment to the steel enclosure reveals deep russet tones and a rich patina, highlighting manufacturer’s markings. A great addition to bars, restaurants, shops and galleries.

Origin: UK

Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

Each original vintage light in our oxide collection has been restored to ensure their authentic heritage and deep russet tones shine on. The lights feature an interesting array of rich patinas, with surfaces and specially treated steel or iron enclosures sealed in our workshop to prevent further ageing.
