Swedish military desk lights

Era: 1960s Origin: Sweden

Swedish military field desk lamps by Luxor. Anglepoise style lamps with their original worn factory finish, dated 1963. The lamp is an aluminium and steel construction, with an interesting surface patina from the original worn paint finish. They can be fully rotated at the base with additional lockable articulation at the arm juncture and shade.

As featured in the Paramount's TV series 'Catch-22'.

Sweden

Origin: Sweden

Although the majority of Swedish export is based on the production of machinery and vehicles, the country has a long tradition of well designed interior products. This is just as true for their lighting industry where the landscape is dominated by established architectural lighting companies, such as Fagerhult. It’s rare for us to salvage lighting from this region but those we do find are notable for their clean-lined, industrial aesthetic.

We always strive to source lighting from interesting places, and restore them ensuring we respect and preserve the heritage of each piece. The lamps were originally used in the field by the Swedish army; the extract shown is the instruction manual that was supplied with the lights. Dated 1963.

Beautiful Light!

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.
