A 1950s adjustable clamp operated or table mounted light, manufactured in the German Eastern Bloc, originally used for task lighting in factories. Industrial in style and raw in aesthetic featuring a rich array of worn surface patina. Dynamic joints ensure easy articulation of light with junctures at the shade, arm and base. Great for desks in home offices or for craft spaces.
German designs are famed for their clean lined and well engineered approach. The Bauhaus School played a major role in combining design with engineering during the late 1920s and early 1930s. A number of lights we salvage were influenced by Bauhaus School design. From the mid to late 20th century, Communist East Germany produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications, often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.
