Russian 1960s surgical lamps

Era: 1950s Origin: U.S.S.R (former)

A pair of Russian surgical floor lamps originally designed and manufactured in the 1960s and once used in military field hospitals across the CCCP. The components of each light have been meticulously disassembled and restored by hand in order to retain its original lenses, reflectors, switches and dials, plus articulation in the arm joints.

Equire about this product

Origin: U.S.S.R (former)

Many of the products we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc were produced in the former U.S.S.R. and are defined by a clean industrial aesthetic. As with other Communist countries, the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. Lights from this region are often defined by their distinctive light green, two-tone colourways.

Restoration

Wherever possible, our restoration team preserve a light’s original finish in respect of its history and heritage. Here, the light’s raw painted finish has been sealed and retained to the upper arm, lamp head, and wheeled base, and original features such as the switches and dials are still present on the base. There is a lockable adjustment of the upper arm at the stand juncture with a 180-degree rotation of the lamp head. The extracts shown are taken from the original manufacturer’s instructions that we were able to salvage alongside the lights.
