Vintage Czech hotel pendant lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Salvaged from a hotel lobby in Prague, these 1950s hand-blown glass pendant lights are part of a long legacy of glassmaking in former Czechoslovakia. A sensitively restored angular glass shade features ribbed detailing, complemented by the original polished brass gallery. Perfect for adding an authentic vintage touch to hotel lounges, lobbies, bars and restaurants. Part of The Retreat Collection in collaboration with Dodds & Shute.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

At skinflint, restoring a light doesn’t necessarily mean making it ‘like new’. We often preserve the visible signs of age, such as spots of wear and patina, to give a hint about the light’s first story. Or we might reveal the bare metal, accentuating its build and design. This means each vintage light in our collection is a true original with its own story to tell.

Product details

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, old gold twisted cable and ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable or an E26 lamp holder (USA) please just ask.

A quick word from our customers

Beautiful Light!

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.
