U.S.A

Origin: U.S.A

Unlike the communist Eastern Bloc countries, lighting design in mid-century U.S.A. benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time designing and producing similar products for the same market, often with only slight differences in their style. Due to the location we rarely have the opportunity to reclaim and restore light fixtures from the U.S.A., but some of our perennial favourites are the old signal lights that adorned the highways of the midwest. We reconfigure and restore these timeless classics into functional pendant lights, for both residential and commercial use.

Restoration

This statement light is fitted with new etched diffusion glass fitted and suspended through a minimal stainless steel suspension system with ceiling mounting permitting millimetric adjustment. Every one of our lights goes through a variety of processes to bring it from the worn and often dilapidated state it arrives in, to a stage where it is ready for your home. From stripping down and rewiring, to applying a finish and sealing the light preventing further degradation to the surface.

Crouse Hinds

Manufacturer: Crouse Hinds

Crouse Hinds is one of the oldest light manufacturers in the U.S. and were founded during 1897 in Syracuse, New York. Initially producing a patented tram car headlight, the firm grew to produce (amongst other items) switches, electrical conduits, traffic lights, airport lighting and even the lighting for Panama Canal. The company name is still in use today as a subsidiary of Cooper Industries, however the traffic signal production ended in 1981.
