Rodded substation pendants by REVOEra: 1950s Origin: UK
Original vintage British pendant lights salvaged from an electrical substation in the UK's North West.
Part of our Spring Greens Sale.
Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.View all lights from UK
Originally designed to illuminate industrialised workspaces, signage and shop windows, this angled style of shade works well to illuminate wall spaces, hung features and shelving. Sensitive restoration by our lighting team looked to retain the light's original features. We also investigate each light's history, taking time to study old manufacturer's catalogues in our archive for clues to assemble the whole story. The extract shown, is taken from the 'REVO: Electric Lighting Equipment' dated, 1940.
Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, and a powder-coated fixed length rod. (If you would prefer an E26 lamp holder for use in the USA, please just ask).
Product height: 370mm | Rod length: 900mm | Overall height: 1270mm. IP20 for internal use only. All dimensions and weights are approximate.
REVO was founded in the early 20th century and became a household name in the 1930s, when electric street lighting was widely introduced throughout the UK. Based in Tipton, Staffordshire, REVO engineers were famed for their creativity, often developing styles of lighting individual to the towns for which they were designed. This means that whilst there are a wealth of classic REVO styles, from prismatics and enamels to machinist lights and bulkheads, there are also some incredible individual rarities to be found.View all REVO Lights

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.

We found exactly what we wanted at skinflint: large industrial pendant lights from an old Dunlop Aerospace factory. They fill the space beautifully and we often get asked where they were sourced. With such heritage attached to them, they are like a piece of history that adds to the modern vintage feel we wanted to create.
