Retro Czech ceiling lightsEra: 1960s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)
1960s Czech glass and Bakelite surface mounted lights. A removable glass shade, with a striking moulded detail and a Bakelite base.
Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of the former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.View all lights from Czechoslovakia (former)
In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. The work we do at skinflint is based on respecting and preserving the heritage of each piece. . Every light we reclaim has two tales to tell - its original use, and how it came to be salvaged. We’ll let you know its history but the next chapter is up to you.
