1970s vintage glass pendants salvaged from Czechoslovakia, with a striking golden bubble effect globe and the original polished brass gallery. These retro-styled pendants are very distinctive and would make a real feature in both a domestic or commercial space.
Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.
View all lights from Czechoslovakia (former)Once we’ve salvaged a collection of lights, we bring them home to our studio and begin the slow process of restoration. Each light is disassembled and we examine every component for damage and flaws, so we know which can be kept, and which need to be replaced. We then hand over to our experts – in-house and locally – to carefully restore each component by hand. That often begins with soda-blasting (an environmentally friendly way to remove old paint), before hand-polishing, lacquering and rewiring.
Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of brass suspension chain, traditional old gold braided cable and a ceiling mounting plate. If you would prefer another colour cable, wire suspension or an E26 lamp holder (for the USA), please just ask).
