Salvaged from an industrial site in Hungary, these enamel factory shades date back to the 1950s. Comprising the original enamelled steel shade with manufacturer's embossing and a contrasting oxidised gallery. Sensitively restored, there is slight localised wear to the enamel in testament to their industrial heritage. A classic pendant above a kitchen island.
We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

That's why we tend not to repaint our lights and celebrate their individuality instead. During restoration non-ferrous metals such as aluminium are often sealed using crystalline waxes, or occasionally left raw so the surface can develop an interesting lustre over time. Ferrous metals such as iron and steel will usually have a clear lacquer powder-coated onto the surface to prevent oxidisation. All forms of surface sealing are designed to protect and enhance the surface of the lights.
Each light is supplied new screw (E27) lamp holders, 2mtrs of industrial black steel suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. (If you would prefer another colour cable, wire suspension or an E26 lamp holder for use in the USA, please just ask).
