Characterful vitreous enamelled factory lights manufactured in Britain by Veritys Maxlume.
Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.
View all lights from UKOver the years, we’ve restored thousands of lights that would otherwise have become scrap - examining, refurbishing and updating one part at a time. But we don’t only piece together the light’s components. We take the time to investigate its history, studying old catalogues for clues and assembling the whole story.
Supplied with new bronzed cord-grip bayonet (B22) lamp holders, 2mtrs of traditional old gold braided cable and ceiling suspension plate.

Maxlume were established during the early 1920s in Birmingham and manufactured a substantial range of fixtures of both an industrial and decorative style. The earliest catalogue we hold within our own internal manufacturer's archive is the 11th edition which is dated 1929 - during that year the company had actually doubled its manufacturing space and storage accommodation to cope with an ever increasing demand for its products. By the mid 1950s the company had been taken over by Verity’s, although the lights were still manufactured under the registered Maxlume mark.
