Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

To begin, we gently disassemble each light fitting, letting us spot any flaws and plan how best to bring it up to modern electrical standards. Then, our team of experts patiently restore each component by hand. Typically, this might mean: Soda-blasting – an environmentally friendly way to remove old paint; Polishing – to restore and revitalise the surface of the light; Lacquering – a sealing process that protects the light’s surface from further deterioration; Rewiring – so the light works perfectly, every time.
Supplied with new screw (E27) lamp holders, 2mtrs of industrial steel suspension chain, elephant grey braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. Can be converted to accept E26 (for use in USA) lamp holders if required. Please state at point of order.
