1970s Czech opal pendants

Era: 1970s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Salvaged from a school building in Brno, former Czechoslovakia, these 1970s pendants began life at a tumultuous time. The communist government tightened its grip, yet gaps began to show in the once unflinching Iron Curtain. Each rodded pendant features decorative detailing on the base and sides, with matt opaline glass providing a soft, even glow when illuminated. Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms and entrances.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.
