1960s Czech hotel chandelier

Era: 1960s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Salvaged from a hotel lobby in Brno, former Czechoslovakia, this one-off 1960s chandelier showcases the extravagant glass lighting design of the Bohemian region that seeped through the cracks of an oppressive communist regime. Mounted on decorative rods, two moulded glass shades cast a bright glow when illuminated. Perfect for making a statement over a dining room table.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Most modern bulbs, particularly environmentally friendly LED bulbs, are smaller than those the lights were originally designed to take. We redesign and adjust the positioning of the new lamp holder to give you a light that illuminates your space, perfectly.

A quick word from our customers

Great Lamp

Love the lamp - it is just what we needed to set off our new kitchen - will have pride of place over the breakfast bar. Excellent service from the company - was notified that delivery would be late by one day but was kept informed. Many thanks.

A piece of history

We found exactly what we wanted at skinflint: large industrial pendant lights from an old Dunlop Aerospace factory. They fill the space beautifully and we often get asked where they were sourced. With such heritage attached to them, they are like a piece of history that adds to the modern vintage feel we wanted to create.

Industrial style pendants

Our kitchen is now finished and the lights we bought from you are a perfect fit! We couldn't find a better match and your service has been fantastic.
