1950s Hungarian ceiling lights

Era: 1950s Origin: Hungary

These compact angled pendants began their journey as inspection lights in Budapest in the 1950s. Now converted for use as ceiling lights, featuring a fixed suspension rod, enamelled shades with various worn manufacturer's marks and a refined glass well. Restored and ready for their next chapter in offices, bars, restaurants and shops, perfect for illuminating over signs and feature areas.

Origin: Hungary

We salvage high volumes of industrial and decorative lighting from this landlocked former Eastern Bloc country. Hungarian industrial enamel shades are often available in blue or white, whereas the decorative glassware has more of a clean line and timeless design. In the mid to late 20th century, the Communist east produced a wide variety of lights for both industrial, commercial and residential applications often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage.

skinflint vintage lighting restoration workshop

Restoration

At skinflint restoring a light doesn’t necessarily mean making it ‘like new’. We often preserve the visible signs of age and interesting spots of wear and patina in a testament to the light’s first story. Other times we might reveal the bare metal, accentuating its build and design. Whatever the restoration process, you can be sure you are receiving a truly unique vintage light fitting.

Beautiful Light!

I toyed with this light for ages before I bought it, thinking it was a lot of money. When I eventually ordered and received the light, I was not disappointed. I love this light, so heavy, chunky and in my eyes, gorgeous. It will look brilliant in my dining room, in my newly renovated farmhouse.
