1950s Czech opaline pendants

Era: 1950s Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Starting life in the heart of the former Eastern Bloc, these 1950s pendants once illuminated private residences in Prague. Distinctive by design, each open-bottomed opaline shade provides a soft glow of illumination as well as an element of uplighting. Perfect over kitchen islands, dining room tables, or bedrooms in need of bright illumination.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Versatile light

Great light. It looks very smart. I was initially worried that it might be slightly big for the room (we don't have high ceilings) but it looks great and I am really pleased with it.

I was very happy with the products I received. They arrived quickly and were packed brilliantly and professionally. There was no way they were going to be damaged in transit.
