A 1940s laboratory lamp manufactured by Wembley Electrical Appliances, London, UK. This industrial lamp has lateral adjustment at the shade and base, which also retains the original manufacturer's label emphasising the age and heritage of the light.

Lighting design in the UK benefitted from a free market. Different companies were working at the same time, designing and producing similar products for the same market. Often with only slight differences in their style, they constantly upgraded and improved their original designs. The products we salvage come from the old industrial heartland of England. This area of the UK was once the boiler room of the British economy - from the potteries of Stoke, through the engineering works of Birmingham, to the wool, textile and cotton mills of Oldham and Manchester.

Restoration

The lamps steel and aluminium body has been sensitively refurbished retaining the original worn paint finish. The shade has been adapted to incorporate a new low profile linear LED strip, along with a new toggle switch fitted in the base. Our pre-wired lights are then rewired, tested and certified in line with electrical safety standards BS EN 60598. That way you have a light you can rely on every day, for decades to come.

The light is supplied tested, rewired and fitted with a new linear LED (warm white) energy saving strip (50,000hrs average life) and 2mtrs of traditional black braided cable and plug.
